Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that multilateralism is seriously under threat by US.

Upon his arrival at Baku Airport, Zarif told reporters, “Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) ministerial meeting will open on Wednesday prior to NAM Summit of heads of state and that the events will mainly focus on multilateralism”.

“It is necessary for world countries to base their relations upon diplomacy and multilateralism. NAM Summit will also provide an opportunity for the high-ranking officials to hold talks with each other,” he added.

Zarif left Tehran for Baku late on Tuesday to attend the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

The NAM ministerial meeting will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, before the 18th summit of NAM heads of states that will be held on October 25 and 26.

Iran’s President, Hassan Rouhani is also slated to attend the 18th NAM Summit scheduled to be held in Baku on Friday.
