In a significant boost to its naval capabilities, the Iranian Navy inducted a number of advanced weaponry and cutting-edge equipment, including strategic cruise missile systems and electronic warfare-capable helicopters on Sunday.
The unveiling ceremony, held at a coastal naval base in southern Iran, was attended by Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, showcasing the country’s unwavering commitment to enhancing its maritime defense posture. The new additions include the ‘Talayieh’ strategic cruise missile system, capable of striking targets over a staggering range of over 1,000 kilometers. This intelligent missile boasts the ability to alter its trajectory mid-flight, enabling it to select and engage alternative targets, catching adversaries off guard.
Further bolstering the Navy’s firepower is the ‘Nasir’ cruise missile, boasting a range exceeding 100 kilometers and possessing exceptional destructive power. This versatile weapon can be integrated onto various naval destroyers, further enhancing the Navy’s ability to neutralize potential threats.
In a testament to the Navy’s commitment to electronic warfare capabilities, two new helicopters were introduced, specifically tailored for neutralizing enemy electronic systems. These choppers, equipped with a range of electronic warfare systems, self-protection measures, and the ability to decoy various missiles, reinforce the Navy’s resilience against electronic attacks. The helicopters also carry advanced optical devices, intelligence gathering systems, and Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems, enabling them to undertake both naval combat and civilian maritime operations with unmatched efficiency.
Rounding out the impressive arsenal is the ‘Sanjar’ smart loitering and suicide drone, capable of autonomously searching and engaging targets with remarkable precision. The drone, currently deployed on the Jamaran destroyer, further enhances the Navy’s ability to conduct offensive operations.
A multipurpose drone system employed for electronic warfare, a diver detection system, and the ‘Sirvan’ tugboat, designed for port and anchorage operations, further complement the Navy’s expanding arsenal. The Navy’s continued modernization efforts underscore Iran’s determination to maintain a secure and robust maritime presence, ensuring the safety and integrity of its territorial waters.
