Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, the Commander of the Iranian Army Navy, has unveiled the government’s strategy to establish a “permanent presence” for the Iranian Navy in the South Pole.
“We stand ready to facilitate the country’s intellectuals and scientific institutions in their endeavors in the South Pole,” reiterated the commander. Highlighting the remarkable advancements of Iran’s armed forces, Admiral Irani underscored, “In the 45 years since the Islamic Revolution, Iran has faced multifaceted sanctions and hostile conspiracies.”
“However, leveraging our greatest assets, our talented populace and youthful vigor, the revolution has propelled Iran to a prominent global standing,” added the admiral, emphasizing Iran’s regional and international stature. Admiral Irani outlined that the primary objective behind setting up a base at the South Pole is to conduct scientific research, with Iran’s scientific community and intellectuals slated to spearhead these efforts.
Furthermore, the admiral pointed out that in other nations with bases in the South Pole, military presence primarily serves a supportive role. In conclusion, Admiral Irani reiterated Iran’s unwavering commitment, stating, “We are fully prepared to assist the country’s intellectuals and scientific institutions in establishing a presence in the South Pole. To this end, the government is making preparations for a permanent foothold.”
